Résumé : | During the past 2 decades, the risk of death, as well as the prevalence of hospitalizations in the United States, has increased substantially among people who inject drugs (PWID), in large part because of the opioid epidemic. In Part Two of this two-part review, Rich and Solomon review complications observed in PWID and strategies to reduce harm. Given the increasing prevalence and sequelae of injection drug use, there has been growing recognition of the medical needs of PWID. In this second part of a two-part review, the authors further discuss infectious and noninfectious complications of injection drug use and strategies to mitigate harm.
