Les résultats fournis dans ce rapport correspondent à une estimation de l'incidence (fréquence des nouveaux cas) et de la mortalité par cancer en France, de 1980 à 2005. Ils constituent une référence actualisée de l'étude précédente portant sur la période 1978-2000. La production de ces estimations a été assurée par le Service de biostatistique des Hospices civils de Lyon, les registres français des cancers du réseau Francim et l'institut de veille sanitaire. Le lecteur trouvera dans ce rapport une analyse détaillée des données d'incidence et de mortalité par cancer en France, présentée de façon standardisée pour l'ensemble des cancers et pour chacune des 21 localisations cancéreuses étudiées chez les hommes et des 23 localisations étudiées chez les femmes. Les données ainsi produites concernent la situation de ces cancers en 2005 et son évolution entre 1980 et 2005. Les résultats présentés dans cet ouvrage ont été élaborés à partir de données épidémiologiques exhaustives produites par les registres dans les départements couverts et des données de mortalité nationale exhaustive et à l'aide de méthodes statistiques spécifiques (modélisation âge-période-cohorte). Ils sont destinés à toute personne intéressée par le problème du cancer qu'elle soit décideur, clinicien, chercheur ou simple citoyen en quête d'information. La compréhension de ces données est facilitée pour chaque cancer traité par une analyse commentée et par l'ajout de mises en garde le cas échéant. Ces résultats ont fait l'objet d'un article dans la RESP (Belot et al. 2008 Jun ;56(3) :159-75) et sont disponibles sur le site internet de l'InVS à l'adresse : www.invs.sante.fr/surveillance/cancers/estimations_cancers/default.htm. ENGLISH: The results provided in this report reflect an estimate of the incidence (frequency of new cases) and mortality from cancer in France from 1980 to 2005. They constitute an updated reference of the previous study, which covered the period 1978-2000. The Department of Biostatistics from the Hospices civils de Lyon, the FRANCIM network of cancer registers, and the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance produced their estimates. In this report, the reader will find a detailed analysis of incidence data as well as data from mortality from cancer in France, presented in a standardized way for all cancers, and for each of the 21 cancer localizations studied in men, and 23 in women. The production of such data concerns the situation of these cancers in 2005, and their trends between 1980 and 2005. The results presented in this report were developed from exhaustive epidemiological data produced by registers in the departments covered, and national comprehensive mortality data, using specific statistical methods (modeling age-period-cohort). They are destined to anyone who is interested in the issue: decision-makers, clinicians, searchers or any citizen seeking information. Understanding these data is facilitated for each cancer addressed, with the addition of warnings and commented analyses.
