Résumé :
The results of this small scale and exploratory study show that :
-the costs of residential and community care for drug and alcohol users are comparable. (in some cases residential services cost more than community services and in some cases, the reverse is true; however, the differences between the costs are small in comparison to the overall costs)
-the costs of residential and community services, however, are paid by different authorities.
Under the new Community Care regime, the cost of residential care is paid by Social Service departments. However, if users are living in the wider community, most of the costs are met by the health service and the criminal justice system. (From the document)
