This report focuses on methodologic and strategic issues of relevance to the problem of HIV infection among self-injecting drug users, divides into three topics: 1. Methods for assessing the extent and nature of injection drug use in different populations; 2. Methods for assessing levels of HIV infection in drug injectors; 3. Methods for promoting HIV risk reduction among injection drug users.
