ENGLISH : This article provides a description of the background, development, implementation and follow-up evaluation of a statewide program called V.I.E.W. (Virginia Intervention Education Weekend). V.I.E.W. was designed to put into effect peer-based alcohol and other drug prevention programs in colleges and universities in Virginia. The overall goal of the V.I.E.W. project was to make every student participant a "prevention specialist" who would return to his or her college as part of a peer network of student leaders to focus on institutionalizing alcohol and other drug prevention programs on their respective campuses. Results showed that 46% of twenty-eight participating IHEs had AOD "action plans" in place at follow-up. Of those who did not, 61% reported other positive outcomes as a result of participating in V.I.E.W. |
