La toxicomanie est vue comme un moyen de faire disparaître les difficultés perçues comme pire que l'addiction. Y sont inclus les concepts de processus d'entrée et de processus de sortie spontanée de l'addiction. L'importance de comprendre le sens et la véritable émotion derrière le comportement addictif est considérée de même qu'est repensé l'approche conventionnelle de l'abstinence d'abord comme préalable à un traitement. Les concepts sont expliqués et illustrés par des vignettes cliniques.
ENGLISH :
Substance misuse is viewed as a means of putting off perceived worse possible consequences than those of addiction. Included are the concepts of "maturing into" a necessary developmental stage and subsequent "maturing out" of substance abuse. The importance of understanding the "meaningfulness" and "emotional truth" behind addictive behaviors is also considered, as well as a rethinking of the conventional approach of a priori abstinence as a requisite for psychotherapeutic treatment. The concepts are explained and illustrated by clinical vignettes throughout the text. (Author's abstract.)
