ENGLISH : The profile of drug-addicted patients undergoing therapy at the Therapeutic Community Balsa Blanca, " Unidad de Deshabituacion Residencial U.D.R.) Balsa Blanca", is expounded. This has been possible by studying the data obtained from 231 patients who entered therapy between the years 1992 and 1998. The objective of this work is to evaluate the different sociodemographic, toxicological, sanitary and judicial variables, as well as their possible predictive power on the progression of individuals undergoing treatment. The results show that the chances of clinical discharge in a Therapeutic Community are greater, the older the patient, the more severe the sanitary pathology, the longer the addiction period, the more the abstinence periods, the longer the maximum, abstinence period and the longer the patient remains in our centre. The discriminating assessment method selects three variables that classify properly 65.5% of the patients that finalize the processing successfully: greater number of previous periods of abstinence, longer period under treatment and intravenous heroin administration. The individual evaluation for each set of variables separately shows that the state of health (greater sanitary pathology), sociodemographic variables (greater age, greater number of brothers and unemployed) and a toxicological variable (earlier age in consuming for the first time) are the most determining factors at the time of discriminating those subject that finalize processing with therapeutic discharge.
