Résumé : |
ENGLISH : As an epidemiologist working with alcohol and drug use data from household samples I am frequently asked critical questions about the accuracy of my data. My critics base their disbelief on two assumptions: first, they think that because alcohol and drug use are stigmatized behaviors, the people who agree to be interviewed in household surveys faisely deny using alcohol or drugs or under-report their use of these substances. Secondly, my critics also argue that it is likely that I will not be able to reach the people who drink or use drugs most frequently. This is because these people either refuse to be interviewed or cannot be found at home because they are homeless, in treatment or in jail. (Extract of the publication) |
