(d'après le résumé des auteurs) (article en français et en anglais) ENGLISH : Within the framework of the development of a health care policy for drug abusers, the Ministry of Health asked the INSERM in 1993 to conduct a national survey on the follow-up of patients receiving methadone. In a public health context, evaluation objectives are the following : - to quantitatively analyse the population groups concerned, - to describe the subjects treated and to compare them to the drug abusers usually seen in the health care system, - to look for the existence of distinct sub-groups as far as follow-up of treatment is concerned. The preliminary results concern 1077 subjects which have been described according to a schedule established by the National Commission for Substitute Treatments, where both clinical workers and researchers are represented.
