Résumé :
Over the last few years, there have been increasing reports of the potential for dependence and misuse of gabapentinoids such as pregabalin. Recent data from the UK have demonstrated an increase in 'gabapentinoid' deaths from 1 death in 2009 to 136 deaths in 2017. Additionally, there is concern about increased harm such as 'blackouts' and 'overdose' when these drugs are co-used with other sedative recreational/illicit drugs such as heroin. Currently, there is limited information on risks of acute toxicity when pregabalin is co-used with heroin. This study uses data from the European Drug Emergencies Network Plus (Euro-DEN Plus) project to understand whether co-use of pregabalin with heroin is associated with poorer clinical outcomes compared to lone heroin use.
