The main purpose of this research-proposal is to develop a project that will lead to a more apropriate method to estimate the number of problematic drug users in order to enhance comparability in cross-national registration of and method of estimating the number of problematic drug users. [...] Our final aim is to develop a method which can be used for general application. And above that we want to explore a method by which data-gathering is standardised. Before this can be do ne we need to know which methods in estima ting 'problem drug users' are already being used. So in this stage we are gathering information that concems the experience with assessment techniques in different countries. (Extract of the document)
