Résumé : | In this article, Jane Carlisle Maxwell and Beth A. Rutkowski investigate trends pertaining to the use of amphetamine and methamphetamine. They review various types of data collected in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The data show similar trends across the three countries. The authors describe the popularity of amphetamine several decades ago, but note that the use of methamphetamine is now more common than the use of amphetamine. Furthermore, the price of methamphetamine has declined over time, while purity levels have increased. Levels of use appear to be greatly affected by clandestine production. The authors examine geographic trends and note that in all three countries, methamphetamine use is highest in western regions, although increases are observed in eastern areas. |
