Résumé :
Patricia A. Adler conducted this classic study of a community of people who were actively involved in dealing cocaine or marijuana. She collected data through participant observation over a six-year period and noted that hedonism was the primary motivating reason for their involvement in drug trafficking. This reading is based on one chapter from Adler's book. Here, she described the affiliations between and among people who were involved in drug dealing. Some of these affiliations are defined as partnerships, relationships, connections, and the "umwelt" (relationships based on reputation). The chapter addresses dealers' managing of customers, changing affiliations, maintaining communication, and related issues.
