Résumé : |
The essays published in this section originate from the 'One-Day Event with Robert Saviano' hosted by the Extra-legal Governance Institute (Exlegi) at Oxford University on 6 March 2008. I am most grateful to the speakers, Valeria Pizzini and John Lloyd, for their insightful contributions, to Diego Gambetta, who introduced the day, and to John Carlarne, the Exlegi Research Officer at the time.
Giorgia Gon and Marinella Capriati offered crucial support throughout the day and in the preparatory stages. Other people and organisations instrumental in ensuring the success of the day were: Dr. Guido Bonsaver; Emma Bond; Emanuela Canali; Professor Paul Klemperer; the Manor Road Building staff; Italian Studies at Oxford; the United World Colleges Society at Oxford; Christ Church College; and the Centre of Criminology. Saviano's publishers - Pan Macmillan and Mondadori - allowed us to steal their author for a day while he was on tour in the United Kingdom. The symposium would not have taken place without the enthusiastic support of Roberto Saviano. It was a full day for the author of Gomorrah: in the morning he attended the panel and responded to the papers, while in the afternoon he was the protagonist in a question-and-answer session with students and the public. Most generously, he granted us permission to publish his remarks. (Introduction) |
