ENGLISH :
Prompted by an explosive epidemic of HIV-1 in early among 1988 among Thai IVDUS under treatment for heroin use, a series of focus group discussions were conducted at six Bangkok detoxification clinics. In developing qualitative information on knowledge of and attitudes towards AIDS, and on drug use and sexual behavior, our ojectives were to identify intervention measures, develop culturally-appropriate educational material, strengthen counseling, and sharpen the focus of needed quantitative research. An abundant store of diverse anecdotal responses and reactions emerged. We discuss the reliability and the policy and research implications of these findings. (Author's abstract)
