FRANÇAIS : L'hypothèse d'un lien entre les antécédents familiaux de toxicomanie et les conduites déviantes des enfants est testée à l'aide des procédures de régression hiérarchique et linéaire. Le rôle médiateur d'un "tempérament affectif difficile" des pères et de leur fils, entre les antécédents familiaux et une conduite d'inadaptation, a été mis en évidence chez les enfants âgés de 10 à 12 ans. Les implications d'un tel phénotype dans la description du parcours menant à la toxicomanie, sont discutées. ENGLISH : Temperament has been hypothesized to mediate the effects of family history of substance abuse (SA) on behavioral maladjustment in children. In this study the temperament mediation hypothesis was tested employing hierarchical regression and other linear regression procedures. "Difficult affective temperament" in fathers and sons was found to mediate the relationship between SA+ family history and behavior maladjustment in 10- to 12-year-old sons of SA+ (n=41) and SA- (n=39) families. The authors discuss implications of the phenotype of difficult affective temperament in describing the developmental pathway to substance abuse. (Extract from authors' abstract) |
