Cette étude expérimentale chez la souris, porte sur la toxicité de la BNMPA (alpha-Benzyl-N-méthylphenéthylamine), impureté produite au cours de la synthèse, seule ou en association avec la S-METH (S(+)methamphetamine). La BNMPA entraine des convulsions et des perturbations du comportement semblables à celles des methamphétamines. L'association à la METH ne change pas le profil des convulsions. La BNMPA semble avoir des effets toxiques sur le système nerveux central, mais n'affecte pas l'activité locomotrice.
ENGLISH :
Illicitly obtained methamphetamine is frequently impure, containing various added diluents and adulterants. One such impurity is alphabenzyl-N-methylphenethylamine (BNMPA). Acute toxicity and spontaneous activity studies are conducted with this compound alone and in combination with S(+)-methamphetamine (METH) in mice. While BNMPA appears to have toxic effects in the central nervous system, the failure to affect locomotor activity or alter either METH-induced increases in spontaneous activity or METH-induced convulsions suggests that the two agents are producing their effects through direct mechanisms.
