FRANÇAIS : Cet article montre les connotations négatives que l'on donne aux jeux et divertissements, décrit les fonctions sociales des jeux en général, et offre des exemples spécifiques de l'usage du jeu de rôle, du jeux vidéo, des jeux de société et des sports, dans la prévention. Il présente une interprétation macro-sociétale de la société à risque et conclut que les approches préventives, qui prennent en considération les notions de prise de risque volontaire et d'évaluation des risques, seront de plus en plus utilisées. ENGLISH : Conventional approaches to prevention fail to consider the needs of Homo ludens in a "leisure society." The paper first consider the negative connotations of "games" and "playing," and then describes the social functions of games in general, with examples of the use of role playing, board/video games, sports, and outdoor risk-games in prevention. It considers the approaches of risk assessment and risk society, and concluded that preventive approaches that take into consideration the notions of "voluntary risk taking" and the "reassuring playing of games" will become increasingly used.
