Des héroïnomanes volontaires, recrutés par annonce dans un journal, sont traités à titre expérimental par la buprénorphine et les résultats comparés à ceux d'un traitement de maintenance classique par la méthadone. Cette prise en charge présente l'avantage d'un accès direct et discret au traitement. Les patients de cet échantillon sont plus insérés et font un usage moins élevé de drogues autres que l'héroïne.
ENGLISH :
We report on a community based sample of heroin addicts not in addiction treatment who responded to the offer of experimental treatment (buprenorphine) for heroin addiction. Comparison to a sample of methadone maintenance clients from the same geographic area reveals that on average the community sample began heroin use later, attained a higher level of education and were more likely to have had a significant cohabitation relationship. The methadone maintenance sample reported significant greater regular use of drugs of abuse other than heroin. (From authors' abstract)
