(Résumé d'auteur) ENGLISH : The integration of former drug addicts into social contexts of school life, vocational training or jobs after completion of their therapy has a well known stabilising influence and is key to sustained success of therapy. Therapeutic approaches dealing with drug addiction therefore aim at integrating clients into such social contexts. However, very little is known about the relationships between vocational training, work life and drug addiction before onset of therapy. In an attempt to fill this gap the present study has analysed the biographies of drug addicts using methods of qualitative social research. It was found that all of the drug addicts had difficulties at school or with their jobs. These problems were not simply the result of their drug addiction. A model dealing with the complex inter-relationships between the clients' social context, their lack of success at school and in their jobs and their drug addiction was developed. The results of this study necessitate a re-evaluation of therapeutic approaches aiming at integrating clients into job life. A strate- gy is suggested which combines elements of these therapeutic approaches with medical and psychotherapeutic components of drug therapy. (Author's abstract.) |
