FRANÇAIS :
Ce rapport concis élaboré dans le cadre du programme régional de santé "alcool et toxicomanies" débute par un rappel du plan triennal de lutte contre la drogue et de prévention des dépendances, en en dégageant les principales recommandations en matière de prise en charge. Ensuite, c'est l'ensemble du dispositif de soins réunionnais qui est décrit dans le détail : le dispositif libéral, le médico-social, le sanitaire, les réseaux, les associations d'anciens buveurs. En conclusion, les auteurs notent que le dispositif est essentiellement orienté vers les patients alcooliques, qu'il est considérable malgré son inadaptation par rapport aux besoins, que des déséquilibres entre prises en charge ambulatoires et hospitalières se creusent au profit des dernières et qu'une orientation progressive vers l'ensemble des addictologies est souhaitable. S'en suivent 15 fiches actions présentant les interventions proposées et les moyens utiles pour les mettre en oeuvre.
ENGLISH:
In this health-conscious age there is increasing concern about tobacco-smoking and inappropriate consumption levels of alcohol. Alcoholism poses an important occupational health problem which can affect an individual's personal welfare and limit his or her efficiency at work. There is concern about the increasing availability of drugs in society, the link between drug-taking and the spread of HIV in society, and the contribution that substance misuse has in generating more violence within society. Both excessive alcohol consumption and drug-taking may dispose an individual to anti-social actions and lead to criminal activities. By examining the underlying biological and psychological nature of these behaviours, the book is intended to inform its readers of current advances in a number of relevant disciplines and to demonstrate some of the problems in collecting and interpreting information from particular groups.
