(Résumé d'auteur) ENGLISH : A patient admitted to an alcohology unit lives in an artificial environment, away from the context of his everyday life. The urge to drink obviously fades and the patient rapidly feels that he is cured. Abstinence in hospital therefore remains a fairly artificial experience. Once the patient returns home, he is again faced with alcoholic stimuli and the urge to drink. A behavioural and cognitive therapy technique can be used to help the patient not to be surprised by "return" of the urge to drink after discharge from hospital. This technique consists of exposing the patient to alcoholic stimuli in order to analyse the cognitive processes which moderate alcohol consumption and to obtain extinction of the urge to drink. The authors present their experience and the protocol used to apply this technique in a hospital alcohology department. (Author' s abstract) |
