The objective of this study was to analyse the expectations of partners of alcohol-dependent patients and the responses provided by the doctor during the first alcohology visit. One hundred questionnaires, designed for partners, were collected from various medical offices. in addition to medical management of the alcohol-dependent patient, the partners also request personal follow-up with information about alcoholism and attentive listening by the doctor, who therefore plays an important role in the care of the partner. The doctor must also participate in the prevention of alcohol abuse behaviour. This survey proposes several elements for the supportive care of the patient's partner. (Author' s abstract) |
