ENGLISH : Since a few years now, the setting in France of a specific legal legislation in order to regulate all techno party events has lead to a progressive but quick phase of mutation of the techno party community Before the political awareness of the existence of this community, the association Medecins du Monde set up a fact-finding survey in aid of those taking part in techno parties between August 1998 and January 1999. This survey took place in 8 regions in France within the framework of the Rave Mission. The purpose of this mission was to propose sanitary and preventive assistance to the techno party environment and to give an overview of the situation. This survey, the first quantitative one concerning the techno community in France, reached 949 members of the various techno scenes. The statistical analysis of these questionnaires enables us to bring to light the differentiation processes within the techno community before the institution of the current Repressive policy Thus, concerning both their vision of society and their drugsuse a clear distinction separates members of official techno events (club, rave for which. there is an admission charge) and those who frequent clandestine parties like teknivals or free parties. This distinction, obvious from a statistical point of view, sociologically fits a specific history and the evolution process of these parties. It allows us, for the first time, to understand the changes within the techno movement and to better understand the logic behind current transformations and those to come. (Author's abstract.) |
