Ce numéro spécial est consacré au rendu d'études concernant le vécu des personnes infectées par le VIH. Huit articles analysent des données issues des enquêtes VESPA (VIH Enquête Sur les Personnes Atteintes), ANRS-EN12 réalisée en France métropolitaine et ANRS-EN13-DFA menée dans les Départements Français d'Amérique. Ces articles abordent : la réponse hétérogène au traitement antirétroviral hautement actif dans différentes populations ; la qualité de vie en lien avec la santé ; le chômage et l'emploi des personnes séropositives ; le sexe non protégé parmi les partenaires réguliers, d'une part, chez les homosexuels, d'autre part, chez les hétérosexuels ; la connaissance du traitement prophylactique après une exposition non professionnelle ; le désir d'enfant chez les femmes et les hommes vivant avec le VIH ; l'annonce de sa séropositivité dans les Antilles françaises. Trois articles sont consacrés à des études australiennes évoquant les facteurs incitatifs et dissuasifs de recours au traitement antirétroviral chez les Aborigènes, les facteurs associés à l'emploi des personnes infectées par le VIH ainsi que l'usage de substances psychoactives chez les homosexuels séropositifs à Sydney. Un article s'intéresse aux comportements sexuels des personnes atteintes à Londres et à leur implication dans la transmission du VIH ; un autre au désir d'enfant chez les femmes vivant avec le VIH en Colombie britannique.
