Les addictions sont majorées par les inégalités sociales de santé. Le soutien motivationnel s'avère souvent insuffisant, tant la capacité à changer est réduite dans la maladie addictive, notamment liée au tabagisme. L'approche par les capabilités, initiée par Amartya Sen, permet de poser un nouveau regard en addictologie, avec l'objectif central de restaurer le pouvoir d'agir des personnes accompagnées.

Addictions are increased by social inequalities in health. Motivational support often proves to be insufficient, given the reduction of capacity to change in the case of addictive disease, especially smoking addiction. The capability approach, pioneered by Amartya Sen, allows a new perspective to be placed on addictology, with the central aim of restoring the power to act of the people receiving care.
