Le concept d'addictologie a permis l'élaboration d'une prise en charge transversale, décloisonnant l'approche thérapeutique et préventive des addictions. Accompagnement, suivi, repérage précoce et intervention brève en alcoologie, prévention et traitement de la tabacodépendance, veille sanitaire, le rôle du pharmacien est primordial. Dans le cadre du traitement de substitution aux opiacés, il informe sur les risques de mésusage et les moyens de le prévenir.

The concept of addictology has allowed the development of a cross-disciplinary approach to the treatment and prevention of addictions. The role of the pharmacist is essential for support, follow-up, early detection and brief intervention in alcoholism, prevention and treatment of tobacco dependence, and health monitoring. Within the framework of opiate substitution treatment, he informs about the risks of misuse and the means to prevent it.
