Résumé :
The qat plant is cultivated in Yemen solely for its leaves and tender shoots, which are picked fresh and chewed in social gatherings at times on a daily basis by the majority of Yemeni men and a considerable number of Yemeni women. For the past four centuries or so qat has been an important local cash crop and its widespread usage has had a profound impact on local culture. (Extract of the publication)
