ENGLISH:
This Evidence Update identifies new evidence that is relevant to, and may have a potential impact on, the following reference guidance: Alcohol use disorders: harmful drinking and alcohol dependence. NICE clinical guideline 115 (2011).
A search was conducted for new evidence published from 1 March 2010 to 8 August 2012. A total of 4398 pieces of evidence were identified and assessed, of which 14 were selected for the Evidence Update. An Evidence Update Advisory Group, comprised of topic experts, reviewed the prioritised evidence and provided a commentary.
Although the process of updating NICE guidance is distinct from the process of an Evidence Update, the relevant NICE guidance development centres have been made aware of the new evidence, which will be considered when guidance is reviewed.
Other relevant NICE guidance:
The focus of the Evidence Update is on the guidance stated above. However, overlap with other accredited guidance has been outlined as part of the Evidence Update process. Where relevant, this Evidence Update therefore makes reference to the following guidance:
Depression: the treatment and management of depression in adults. NICE clinical guideline 90 (2009). Generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder: with or without agoraphobia in adults. NICE clinical guideline 113 (2011).
Quality standards:
• Alcohol dependence and harmful alcohol use. NICE quality standard 11 (2011)
Other relevant NICE Evidence Updates:
• Alcohol-use disorders: physical complications. NICE Evidence Update 10 (2012)
