This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract.
The objectives are as follows:
The aim of the review is to assess the effectiveness of policies aiming to prevent smoking initiation and exposure to second-hand smoke among students by regulating smoking in schools.
The review will address the following questions:
• Do school tobacco control policies reduce youth smoking prevalence?
• Do school tobacco control policies delay the start of smoking in adolescents?
• Do school tobacco control policies reduce the number of cigarettes among smokers?
• What characteristics of school policies increase their impact, if any?
