Résumé :
The special segment of the current issue reviews the changing approach of illicit ATS (amphetamine-type stimulants) manufacture by drug trafficking organizations. International efforts to control the trade of precursor chemicals have resulted in some illicit manufacturers trying to bypass regulations by synthesizing, rather than purchasing and trafficking, scheduled chemicals from chemicals which are not controlled by the 1988 United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. Substances such as bisulfite adducts or glycidates are used to 'mask' the precursors, making them unrecognizable to law enforcement authorities. This new manufacturing trend of synthetic drugs poses a major challenge for drug control authorities in the near future.
