Résumé :
When assisting drug users affected by HIV and AIDS the worker can be faced with a complex range of problems. This book covers all the aspects of HIV and AIDS that are likely to be met with in practice.
• Up-to-date information about the syndrome is provided with a summary of the treatments currently available.
• A range of interventions which promote harm minimization and risk reduction is examined.
• The concerns of drug users both before and after the HIV antibody test and of those with the HIV related illness and AIDS are explored.
The book will assist workers in assessment, planning and intervention with drug-using clients and in making the best use of services. It also addresses the worker’s support and supervision needs. It is suitable for all those involved full-time in working with drug users, or anyone who encounters drug users in the course of their work.
