Cet article est issu d'une recherche réalisée sur différents types d'espaces publics ou ouverts au public confrontée à l'insécurité et dans lesquels la situation a pu être redressée. A partir du cas particulier de la régulation d'un phénomène d'ivresse nocturne dans une rue de Birmingham, il montre en quoi la qualité globale de l'espace public (forme et fonctionnement) et la sécurité sont intimement liées. This article storms from research on different types of public spaces or spaces open to the public which face insecurity and where the problem could be straightened out. From the particular case of the controlling of a phenomenon og high-time drunkeners in a Birmingham street, the article shows the ways in which safety and the quality of public space in its entirely (form and function) are intimately linked.
