Résumé :
In this chapter, Herbert Kleber and James Inciardi outline the arguments proposed by supporters of drug legalization. They then critically review evidence, which leads them to reject the arguments by legalization advocates. For example, supporters of legalization suggest that crime would decline if drugs were legally available. Kleber and Inciardi cite evidence to show that many individuals engage in crime before they initiate drug use. The authors examine the effects of legal drugs on individuals and society and examine the legalization debate cross-culturally.
