Résumé :
Countries use different terminologies and classification systems for "drug-related" deaths, and this hinders effective utilisation of this information at the international level. There was thus an imminent need to review the various aspects of the lethal implications of drug abuse, in order to better understand the causative factors leading to death and develop a common terminology for expressing this phenomenon. A consultation meeting on deaths related to drug abuse was held from 22 to 25 November 1993 in Geneva, Switzerland, to address this issue. (Extract of the document)
