A report on the initial stages of research on chronic cannabis users in Costa Rica. Work on the project began in July, 1973, and is expected to terminate by September, 1975. It will involve in-depth studies of the sociocultural context of cannabis use, pulmonary and visual function studies, neuropsychological studies, and basic biomedical measurements. The format of the research will be explained in detail and preliminary findings discussed. Critical evaluation of the project's design will be welcomed. (Author' s abstract)
