Résumé :
The World Health Oragnization has endorsed a comprehensive approach to tobacco control and experience from many countries has shown the necessity of this approach. To be effective, a tobacco control treaty may hae to be similarly comprehensive. Consequently, protocols addressing a wide range of different social, economic and legal issues are discussed. Specifically considered are protocols dealing with: product content and design; advertising, promotion and sales; package design and labelling, taxation and pricing; smuggling; cooperation and information sharing; tobacco exports; and the role of tobacco in the public sector.
