Résumé :
This update of Mexicos Epidemiologic Surveillance System of Addictions covers information from treatment centers, juvenile detention centers, and medical examiners reported for the year 2002. Among 18,070 patients treated in government treatment centers (GTCs) and 31,819 patients treated in nongovernment treatment centers (NGCs), alcohol and marijuana were the most frequently reported drugs of first use. Cocaine ranked first at GTCs and second at NGCs as the primary drug of abuse. In both GTCs and NGCs, a majority of patients used multiple drugs. Among juvenile arrestees, the most frequently used drugs were marijuana (37.5 percent), cocaine (21.2 percent), and inhalants (16.1 percent). Alcohol was involved in more than 81 percent of drug-related deaths. (Author' s abstract)
