Résumé :
A brief exploration is made into the likely reasons behind the surprising lack of publicity of the Spanish general population surveys in the last decade. The concept of "symbolic capital" seems to be helpful in such inquiry. This first set of reflections on the context of the surveys is then linked to the presentation of some data analysis on the use of cannabis in Spain from the last 1998 national household survey on drug abuse.
