Belgique : la présence efficace des psychologues (1992)

En Belgique, les communautés culturelles flamandes, françaises et germanophones ont leur propre question de la politique de prévention et de soin en matière de toxicomanie. Dans la communauté française les psychologues ont une présence forte et efficace dans l'approche de la prévention et du traitement du toxicomane. En matière de prévention ils interviennent dans le cadre de l'éducation de la santé. Pour le traitement, ils participent à de multiples programmes: en milieu hospitalier ou dans des centres spécialisés où ils ont un rôle de psychothérapeute.
ENGLISH:
In Belgium linguistic disparity is reflected in the organization of prevention an treatment of drug addiction. In this way, each language community - French, Flemish and German - endowed with its own administrative status and specific comptences, has the responsability for drug addicts. In the case of the French community of Belgium, examined here, psychologists intervene within various network of health education, they contribute towards the definition of objectives for an overall policy of prevention. They also have a role in the education of responsable adults, from the parents to the educators. They also work in guidance and mental health centres. As far as the treatment of drug addicts is concerned, psychologists are present in all programmes. In the hospital intitutions, their role is in detoxification; although the therapeutic role is mainly given to psychiatrists. In the specialized centres, they act essentially as psychotherapists...
