La cocaïne induit une réduction de la sécrétion des hormones gonadotropes et provoque une inhibition des enzymes testiculaires impliquées dans la biosynthèse de la testostérone. Ceci a pour conséquence une diminution des androgènes circulants. L'alteration des fonctions testiculaires résulte vraisemblablement d'une réduction des récepteurs hormonaux.
ENGLISH :
We have examined the effects of cocaine on pituitary gonadotropin secretion, testicular steroidogenesis and levels of androgen receptors in the testis in an effort to elucidate the mechanism by which cocaine alters reproductive functions. It appears that cocaine induces a reduction of gonadotropin secretion and causes an inhibition of testicular enzymes involved in testosterone biosynthesis, resulting in a decrease in circulating androgen, and this drug impairs testicular functions presumably by reducing hormone receptor levels, leading to reproductive dysfunctions.(Extract from the author's abstract)
