L'histoire des AA en Suisse allemande montre que trois facteurs sont responsables de la formation et du développement rapide des AA dans les premières années : l'intégration des premiers groupes dans le système traditionnel pour les malades alcooliques le soutien des groupes de langue germanique, l'attrait que les AA ont exercé sur certains groupes d'alcooliques (femmes, jeunes...). Aujourd'hui les AA se caractérisent par un certain traditionalisme, une accentuation des aspects structurels et des valeurs démocratiques et une forte intégration interne.
ENGLISH :
The first part of this paper is an historical survey of the Swiss German AA. The authors attempt to show that the etablishment and subsequent rapid growth of the AA in its initial years were due to three major factors : the integration of the first AA groups into the traditional treatment system for alcohol dependents, the support given by the German speaking AA and the attractiveness of the AA for those groups of alcoholics (women, young people and urbanites). The second part is a description of the AA in German Switzerland today. The following characteristics are focussed upon : adherence to tradition, emphasis on structural aspects as established in the "AA Service Manual", emphasis on grass roots democracy as well as a high degree of internal integration.
