2240 personnes en 1992 et 2573 en 1993, ont été traitées pour un problème de toxicomanie dans la région de Dublin. Les trois quarts sont des hommes de 15 à 39 ans, souvent au chômage et avec peu de formation scolaire. L'héroïne est le produit le plus consommé, souvent par voie intraveineuse. Les nombreux tableaux statistiques présentés dans ce rapport rassemblent la plupart des indicateurs connus concernant la toxicomanie dans cette région.

This report is the third in the series of reports which analyse the characteristics of drug users who presented for treatment in the Greater Dublin Area. The report is based on those data returned to the Drug Section of the Health Research Board by the participating treatment centres for the years 1992 and 1993. The estimated number of persons who were treated in 1992 was 2,240 and 2,573 in 1993. Three quarters of clients were male, most of them between the age of 15 and 39 years old. Eight out of ten were unemployed. Opiates were the drug which caused the most problems. (From authors' abstract)
