Le programme méthadone associe une distribution accompagnée d'une supervision légère et deux phases de distribution orientées vers l'abstinence. Le privilège d'emporter chez soi la méthadone ou d'aller la chercher chez le pharmacien est soumis au fait d'avoir participé aux deux étapes basées sur l'abstinence. On observe une amélioration du taux de rétention en traitement de 59 % à 78 %, sur un an, depuis la mise en place de cette méthode.
ENGLISH :
This study evaluated changes in client population and in retention rates following the introduction of a system of methadone maintenance streaming. A low intervention and a low supervision stream was combined with two abstinence-orientated streams. Privileges of takehome doses and local pharmacy dose collection were contingent on successful participation in the abstinence-orientated streams. The results showed a significant increase in retention rates. (From authors' abstract)
