Le niveau de monoamine oxydase est mesuré chez 12 usagers d'amphétamines victimes de flashbacks et 8 usagers n'ayant pas eu de flashback. La majorité des usagers ressentant ces flashbacks avaient eu des expériences de frayeurs lors de la consommation de metamphétamines. On mesure une augmentation du taux plasmatique de norépinéphrine au cours de ces flashbacks.
ENGLISH :
We measured plasma monoamine metabolite levels in flashbackers and in non-flashbackers. Most flashbackers had undergone frightening experiences during previous MAP use. The dominant triggering factor was a mild fear of people. Plasma norepinephrine levels in the flashbackers was increased during flashbacks. Thus, MAP use associated with threatening experiences may have increased sensitivity to stressors, leading to the occurence of flashbacks, including exaggerated noradrenergic activity.
