Résumé :
Ce volume rassemble des communications présentées lors d'un forum d'experts cliniciens Anglais, Belges et Français, à Wetherby, UK. La pharmacologie de la buprénorphine, son évaluation clinique, l'historique de son usage sont décrits ainsi que plusieurs études cliniques du traitement de la dépendance aux opioïdes, notamment l'étude multicentrique du NIDA. Ensuite, divers aspects du traitement sont développés : le sevrage de la buprénorphine, son utilisation dans la désintoxication à la méthadone et à l'héroïne, l'efficacité et la sécurité d'une prescription à haut dosage alterné, la prescription au cours de la grossesse et l'association buprénorphine - naloxone. L'expérience françaises mise en place par le Laboratoire de Psychiatrie de l'Université de Bordeaux depuis 1988 est rappelée et quelques expériences européennes (Danemark, Suisse, Pays-Bas, Autriche) sont citées.
