The ultrashort detoxifications are generally performed in a hospital ambient, and all the programs had patient inclusion and exclusion criteria for the patients. Methadone consumption is a reason for exclusion in any program or previous abstinence can be requested prior to beginning the detoxification. All the programs pursue the sedation of the patient, fundamentally by oral administration, and the naltrexone drug is used most as the antagonist agent. The most frequent side effect after detoxification is restlessness and most of the professionals agree on the efficacy and safety of the treatment modality. (Editor's abstract.)
