Résumé :
ENGLISH :
Data from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction suggest an increase in the prevalence of cocaine use, its availability, and of the problems due to its consumption in the majority of European countries. In Spain an increase in both experimental and regular consumption has been recorded. Such an increase is especially noticeable in youths, and this affects all age groups of both sexes. Nevertheless, the consumption of cocaine continues to be much lower than that of other drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis. A progressive increase in the number of cocaine users who seek treatment, in the number of hospital emergencies related to cocaine consumption, and in the number of deaths due to acute reactions, had been seen in conjunction with the increase of cocaine consumption. Another disturbing fact is the association of cocaine consumption with polyconsumption of other drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and other psycho-stimulants. Finally, we emphasize that although the level of perceived risk from usual cocaine consumption has grown significantly in the general population, this has decreased slightly in recent years in young people.
