Résumé :
ENGLISH :
The use of marijuana laced with PCP and embalming fluid has reemerged in certain geographical areas in the United States (1, 2). Depending on the region, this compound has been called "hydro" (New York), "wet" (Philadelphia), "illy" (Connecticut), or "fry" (Texas). In Houston, the advent of "fry houses" led the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to conduct a study to assess the extent of "fry" use among adolescents (2). In Connecticut "illy" was marketed as a "new and improved" marijuana," i.e., as benign as marijuana but with enhanced effects. Subsequently, reports in Connecticut newspapers implicating illy users in violent behavior led the State of Connecticut to designate an "Illy Task Force" to address the issue. Despite these public health initiatives, illy use remains a significant problem in urban Connecticut (3). This report reviews two cases from the Hartford Correctional Center and highlights illy's potential to cause violent behavior and psychiatric morbidity. (Extract of the publication)
