Résumé :
ENGLISH :
Dual diagnosis is the concurrent existence in an individual of substance misuse and psychiatric disorders. There has been an increase in the number of people with complex needs and this impacts on residential and community psychiatric services, and in primary care and general hospital settings. The essence of this book is to provide an overview of mental health and substance issues - dual diagnosis - from an inter-professional approach. It provides practitioners working in the mental health and addiction fields with a resource on the issues of working with dual diagnosis patients from both a clinical and service development perspective. It also aims to foster the awareness, knowledge and skills which health care professionals will need to respond effectively to patients whom they encounter in their daily practice. Dual Diagnosis: Substance Misuse and Psychiatric Disorders will be of interest to health and social care professionals unfamiliar with the "dual diagnosis" phenomenon and to students of medicine, nursing, psychology and social work.
